Cristiano Ronaldo's 700 career club goals in numbers

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's 700th career club goal, Sports Mole looks at the numbers behind the Manchester United man's remarkable achievement.

Cristiano Ronaldo wrote yet another chapter into football's history books on Sunday, firing past Jordan Pickford to bring up club goal number 700 of his illustrious career.

While statistics from legendary strikers of the past vary depending on your source and whether friendlies should be included when they carried more weight in bygone eras, Ronaldo is widely regarded to be the first player to have ever reached 700 goals at club level.

In recognition of his match-winning strike against Everton, and the hundreds of others that preceded it, here Sports Mole takes a look at the most impressive numbers behind the headline 700th goal.

7,307 - Days between Ronaldo's first senior club goal - for Sporting Lisbon against Moreirense on October 7, 2002 - and his 700th, for Manchester United against Everton, 20 years and two days later.

220 - That goal against Everton was the 220th time that a Ronaldo strike has won the game for one of his clubs.

390 - The number of Ronaldo's 700 goals which have come at home, with 289 arriving on the road and 21 on neutral territory.

460 - The Portugal skipper has scored 460 of his goals with his stronger right foot, with 125 coming from his left, 113 coming via headers and the remaining two coming off other parts of his body.

50 - Ronaldo has scored a whopping 50 hat-tricks at club level, accounting for 150 of his 700 goals.

602 - Ronaldo has scored a remarkable 602 goals from inside the penalty area during his career, with the remaining 98 coming from outside the box.

129 - Of those 602 goals from inside the area, 129 of them have been from the penalty spot.

48 - Incredibly, almost half of Ronaldo's goals from outside the area have been from direct free kicks - 48 of his 98 long-range strikes.

450 - Goals Ronaldo scored for Real Madrid in his most prolific spell at a club. The Portuguese forward reached that eye-popping total in just 438 games.

144 - Ronaldo's strike against Everton was his 144th for Manchester United - 118 from his first spell and 26 since his return last summer.

101 - Goals Ronaldo scored during his time at Juventus, meaning that he has reached triple figures at three different clubs and in three different countries during his career.

5 - Ronaldo's tally from his Sporting Lisbon days before securing his career-changing switch to Manchester United in 2003.

140 - Goals Ronaldo has scored in the Champions League, more than any other player in the history of the competition and a tally that has helped him to lift the famous trophy five times - once with Man United and four times with Real Madrid.

311 - Ronaldo's biggest goal tally in a specific competition unsurprisingly came in La Liga, where he scored a ludicrous 311 goals in just 292 appearances for Real Madrid.

103 - The Man United talisman has also reached a century of goals in the Premier League, with his strike against Everton being his 103rd in 233 English top-flight outings.

498 - In total, Ronaldo has now scored 498 goals in league football throughout his career, and needs just two more to become only the fifth player to ever reach 500. That tally includes 81 from Serie A and three from the Primeira Liga.

61 - The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's highest-scoring season at club level, achieved with Real Madrid in 2014-15. Ronaldo also hit the 60-goal mark in 2011-12, and scored more than 50 goals in five successive campaigns from 2010-11 to 2015-16.

27 - Sevilla have been Ronaldo's favourite opponents throughout his career, with him scoring against them an incredible 27 times, including four hat-tricks and one four-goal haul. Ronaldo has scored 20 or more goals past no fewer than five different teams, including Real Madrid's fiercest rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

124 - Ronaldo has scored against 124 different clubs throughout his career, from Al Jazira to Zaragoza. He has faced 165 clubs in total, meaning that he has only failed to net against 41 of them, and has scored against more than 75% of the teams he has ever played against.

37 - Goals Erling Braut Haaland would have to score every season for another 15 years in order to match Ronaldo's 700-goal tally. It also happens to be the age at which Ronaldo reached the milestone goal.
