Manchester City's Joe Hart and Manchester United's Paul Scholes will start this afternoon's derby as substitutes.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been dropped to the bench for today's Manchester derby in round three of the FA Cup.

Costel Pantilimon has taken the England international's place, while Samir Nasri has recovered from an illness to start in midfield.

Just minutes after announcing his return to the club, Paul Scholes has been named on the Manchester United bench for the tie.

Chris Smalling has come into the team following a bout of tonsillitis and Danny Welbeck will partner Wayne Rooney in attack.

Man City: Pantilimon; Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov; A. Johnson, de Jong, Milner, Silva, Nasri; Aguero.

Man United: Lindegaard; Evra, Jones, Ferdinand, Smalling; Valencia, Carrick, Nani, Giggs; Welbeck, Rooney.
