Marcus Rashford's Man United future 'becomes clear' after 'major development' ahead of Arsenal showdown

Rashford decision made: Is Man United forward in the squad for Arsenal clash?

Marcus Rashford was allegedly not with the Manchester United squad that headed down to London on Saturday afternoon for Sunday's FA Cup third-round contest with Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has recovered from the illness that contributed to him being left out of the squad against Liverpool last weekend, with his availability being confirmed by Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim during Friday's press conference.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Rashford did not make the trip with his teammates down to the English capital, suggesting that he is highly unlikely to be involved in the FA Cup fixture.

Rashford has not played for Man United since December 12, having been dropped by Amorim due to his training-ground performances and concerns over his general demeanour around Carrington.

The Englishman is also being heavily linked with a move away from the 20-time English champions, with a loan exit expected to be confirmed before the January transfer window closes for business.

Rashford 'not with Man United squad' for Arsenal clash

AC Milan are thought to be at the head of the queue for Rashford, while Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham United are being linked with the forward, who has scored seven goals this season.

Rashford's alleged absence from the squad against Arsenal is a further indication that he does not have a future under Amorim, with the Portuguese setting a new standard when it comes to behaviour at the club.

Amorim will again be asked about Rashford on Sunday if he is indeed not involved, and it is likely that he will again confirm that the forward is simply being left out for the same reason as recent weeks.

As expected, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Victor Lindelof are all missing due to injury problems, but there are no other major talking points when it comes to the squad.

Amorim has already confirmed that changes will be minimal, with the head coach set to select his strongest available XI, although Altay Bayindir has been confirmed as the starter between the sticks.

Confirmed Man United squad members: Onana, Bayindir, Heaton; Dalot, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia; Mainoo, Ugarte, Casemiro, Collyer, Fernandes, Eriksen; Antony, Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Amad
