Team News: Cristiano Ronaldo back in starting XI for Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo back in starting XI for Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the Manchester United XI for Thursday's Europa League contest with Sheriff Tiraspol.

The 37-year-old was left out of the squad against Chelsea on Saturday after refusing to enter the field as a late substitute in the 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag have since held clear-the-air talks, though, and the latter has now named the experienced forward in the starting side for the European affair with Sheriff.

There are four changes from the side that took to the field for the first whistle against Chelsea last time out, with Ronaldo, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho coming in.

Raphael Varane will be out until after the World Cup through injury, but Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek are both back on the bench tonight following recent absences through injury.

Garnacho makes his first senior start for Man United, with the 18-year-old set to feature on the left of the attack, with Antony retaining his spot on the right.

Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho, who both started at Chelsea, have dropped down to the bench.

Marcus Rashford is also among the substitutes for the 20-time English champions, with Ten Hag making alterations ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with West Ham United.
