Fenerbahce's Simon Kjaer blasts "arrogant" Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Simon Kjaer blasts "arrogant" Ibrahimovic

Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer has described Zlatan Ibrahimovic as an 'arrogant, chest-puffing player' following their coming-together in Thursday's Europa League clash.

The Manchester United ace appeared to grab his opponent by the throat during the Red Devils' 2-1 defeat in Turkey after an exchange of words between the pair.

Ibrahimovic avoided any punishment from referee Milorad Mazic at the time and is expected to also escape retrospective action, but Kjaer has questioned why exactly the Swedish striker felt the need to react in a violent manner.

"I actually did not hear what he said but I do know that he was not happy," he told Channel 9. "But that is the way I know him from the pitch. He is the kind of chest-puffing player, who is arrogant. That is his way of playing.

"My way of playing is to mark him as tightly as possible and to give him as little space as possible, because he is a good player. It is a part of football and I do not take it too seriously. It is not the first time I play against him and I know how he reacts. It is not a problem. It is, like I said, a part of the game."

Defeat for United leaves them third in the Group A standings ahead of their meeting with Feyenoord at Old Trafford in three weeks' time.
