Chris Smalling pleased with Manchester United's Bayer Leverkusen win

Smalling pleased with win

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has said that he is delighted with his and his teammates' performance against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

The Red Devils won 5-0 at the BayArena to progress to the last 16 of the Champions League from Group A.

"I think this is as good as it gets away from home, especially given the fact only Bayern Munich have [not lost] here," UEFA.com quotes him as saying.

"I think we gave ourselves a good platform by how we defended. Our attacking players just ran at them and luckily we got the goals. Giggsy's (Ryan Giggs) ball to Nani was brilliant, he has really got an eye for that."

United are currently at the top of the group with 11 points from five matches.
