Manchester United's Rafael da Silva: 'We can take anyone in Champions League'

Rafael da Silva insists that Manchester United can "take anyone" in the Champions League after qualifying for the final 16.

Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva believes that he and his teammates are capable of beating any of the top sides in Europe.

The Red Devils will discover their fate in the Champions League draw on Monday following their 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, which put them through to the final 16 at the top of Group A.

While the Brazilian has insisted that United can "take anyone", the defender is hopeful that they won't face Real Madrid, who knocked them out of the tournament at this stage last season.

"I can remember last season when we also won the group and yet we played Real Madrid," Da Silva told the club's official website. "I hope something like that doesn't happen again but we can take anyone.

"I've seen Manchester City won 3-2 against Bayern Munich, which is a surprise, but City finished second so we can't play Bayern yet. I think that is a good thing."

In terms of Premier League form, United have suffered back-to-back defeats at Old Trafford ahead of their match against Aston Villa on Sunday.
