Micah Richards 'edges closer' to Aston Villa move with medical booked this week

Out-of-contract defender Micah Richards will have a medical at Aston Villa this week, according to reports.

The ex-England international is set to leave Manchester City on a free transfer in the hope of kick-starting his career, after a disappointing loan spell at Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Birmingham Mail claims that Richards's move to Villa could be announced following his medical this week, when he is expected to sign a four-year deal.

The 26-year-old played 20 times for Fiorentina last season.
