Report: Atletico Madrid reject Manchester City's Jose Gimenez bid

Manchester City have reportedly failed in a £17m move for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a run in the Atletico team in recent weeks due to an injury to Brazilian defender Miranda.

Gimenez has flourished alongside Uruguay teammate Diego Godin, with his performances drawing admiring glances from across Europe.

According to AS, Man City launched an offer for the defender 10 days ago, but that was quickly rejected by the Spanish champions.

City will reportedly return with a bid next summer as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
