Report: Manchester City to open bidding for Kevin De Bruyne

Report: City prepare first De Bruyne bid

Manchester City are reportedly planning to launch an official move for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne worth around £40m.

The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium this summer as City aim to inject their squad with youth, which has so far seen Raheem Sterling, Patrick Roberts and Fabian Delph arrive.

De Bruyne is seemingly their next target, and The Telegraph claims that City director of football Txiki Begiristain spent the weekend negotiating a deal with Wolfsburg.

However, the German side don't want to sell the 24-year-old and value him at £57m, which would break City's transfer record. De Bruyne is also thought to want a five-year contract, worth £180,000 per week.

City start their Premier League campaign away at West Bromwich Albion in two weeks.
