Borussia Monchengladbach defender Luca Netz has insisted that he has no regrets about rejecting a transfer to Manchester City as a 15-year-old.
Netz has emerged as one of the top prospects currently playing in the Bundesliga, the 18-year-old already making six starts and 10 substitute outings for Hertha Berlin and Monchengladbach respectively.
His current club were prepared to pay £3.6m for his signature during the summer transfer window, a decision which appears justified with Netz featuring in recent wins over Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.
Despite having the opportunity to move to the Etihad Stadium three years ago, Netz has claimed that it would have been "nonsense" to make a such a move at that stage of his life.
Speaking to Bild, Netz said: "I think it's nonsense to switch to Man City at such a young age. Even if I were to get another offer now, I would turn it down.
"I have a clear plan, and it's simply too early for the Premier League. It's important for me to play for Borussia, to gain experience and to develop steadily. Then we will see what happens in a few years."
Netz signed a contract in the summer which ties him to Monchengladbah until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
