Man City hopeful of paying £60m for Mahrez?

Manchester City are reportedly confident of signing long-term target Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for a knockdown fee of £60m.

The Citizens are understood to have pulled out of a move for the Algeria international in January after being asked to hand over the equivalent of £95m in a player-plus-cash deal.

According to The Sun, however, the transfer saga may be coming to an end as Leicester are prepared to accept a lower fee, albeit with add-ons driving up the price.

Should the move go through, the 27-year-old would still become the Premier League champions' club-record signing, surpassing the £57m paid to land Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao earlier this year.

Mahrez scored 12 goals and set up 10 more in the top flight last season, having also directly contributed to 37 goals in the previous two campaigns.
