Report: Pep Guardiola wants Thiago Alcantara at Manchester City

Guardiola 'wants Thiago at Man City'

Pep Guardiola has reportedly put Thiago Alcantara at the top of his list of summer targets when he arrives at Manchester City.

The Spaniard will succeed Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the current season, ending his stint with Bayern Munich.

Guardiola has already taken Thiago from Barcelona to Bayern in 2013, and The Guardian now reports that the two-time Champions League-winning coach will look to recruit the midfielder once again.

However, the 24-year-old signed a new deal with Bayern last summer that will keep him in Munich until 2019, which could make the transfer fee a sticking point in negotiations.

Thiago, who has four goals in 31 appearances for Bayern this season, is one of a number of players to have been linked with a move to City when Guardiola arrives.

His current teammate Robert Lewandowski has also been mentioned as a possible target, while Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly keen on a switch to the Etihad.
