Man City transfer news today: What's happening on August 25?
The headline arrival on August 24 was a Romano-confirmed "here we go" for Allan Elias, the 22-year-old Brazilian winger from Palmeiras, with a verbal agreement reached at a fee of £34.2m plus add-ons as a direct replacement for Savinho.
Allan has made 96 appearances for Palmeiras since breaking into the side in 2025, scoring nine goals and registering 12 assists, and has contributed six goals already in 2026 for a side sitting top of the Brasileiro Serie A, with Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira paying tribute in blunt terms: "He does what 90% of the wingers here can't do: attack and defend down the flank for the full 90 minutes."
Documents are being exchanged and Allan is expected to complete the formalities before September 1, becoming City's fifth first-team summer after Pierce Charles, Elliot Anderson, Jeremy Monga and Geronimo Rulli - unless Ayyoub Bouaddi is confirmed before then.
The outgoing picture also moved on significantly, with a verbal agreement reached with Newcastle United to sell Nico Gonzalez for £50m just 18 months after the Spanish midfielder arrived from Porto for the same fee, having started only 18 Premier League matches and been an unused substitute in the 2-1 opening-day win over Bournemouth.
Gonzalez had stated publicly earlier in the summer that he was happy at the club and wanted to stay, but those sentiments did not survive the agreement of Ayyoub Bouaddi's £85.6m deal with Lille and the prospect of Enzo Fernandez following from Chelsea.
Bouaddi's medical is expected this week, while Man City remain confident of finalising the Fernandez deal despite Chelsea raising their asking price.
The £85m sale of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur is also close to completion, with the Brazilian winger having made clear to the club since the start of the summer that he wanted to leave, freeing Maresca to proceed with Allan as the replacement.
