How Manchester City could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers

How Man City could line up against Wolves

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has no fresh injury concerns to work around for Saturday's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

The Citizens ran out 2-1 winners over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek, during which John Stones returned to score a peach of an equaliser from right-back.

Guardiola is expected to make do without Aymeric Laporte until after the international break, while Kyle Walker is a major doubt after missing out against Dortmund.

As a result, Stones could very well hold his spot on the right-hand side of the backline, with Joao Cancelo occupying the left-back spot after providing a sublime assist for Erling Braut Haaland in midweek.

Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji formed the defensive partnership in that game, but Ruben Dias is well-rested and is sure to return here, most likely in place of the former.

The midfield trio of Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne is unlikely to be broken up, with the latter scoring four goals in a Molineux masterclass against Wolves back in May.

Either side of Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish failed to deliver against Dortmund, so Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva can expect recalls to the frontline here.

Man City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Stones, Akanji, Dias, Cancelo; Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne; Silva, Haaland, Foden
