Carlos Tevez claims attempted Roberto Mancini contact

Tevez claims attempted Mancini contact

A spokesman for Carlos Tevez has claimed that the Argentine tried to contact Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini before he missed training to travel back to his home country.

The striker, who this week accepted a fine after he allegedly refused to warm up during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich, is likely to face more disciplinary action after he didn't turn up at the club's Carrington training complex on Tuesday.

"He tried countless times to speak to Roberto Mancini," Tevez's spokesman told the Press Association.

"He was told it was Mancini's decision as to whether or not he could go and left numerous voice messages and texts on Mancini's phone.

"He didn't receive a response at all. He then flew to Argentina and tried to speak to Mancini again yesterday (Tuesday), leaving messages and texts. As of this moment we've had no response."

The spokesman gave no indication when the 27-year-old would be returning to England.

PFA chief Gordon Taylor has expressed his disappointment over Tevez's latest actions.
