Ryan Giggs doubts whether Manchester City's unbeaten run will last, as they prepare to face rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has said that he does not expect noisy neighbours Manchester City to go the whole Premier League season unbeaten.

The Citizens have won 14 and drawn one of their 15 top-flight games so far in Pep Guardiola's second campaign at the helm, racking up 13 victories on the spin ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Giggs cannot see City going the same way as Arsenal in 2003-04 by making it through a full 38-game season without tasting defeat, however, unless they have "a lot of luck" on their side over the remaining five months.

"I don't think Manchester City can go the whole season unbeaten. It is so difficult to do and has only been done once in the Premier League era," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's not impossible but I don't think they will because of the quality of the teams around them; with Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool it would be very difficult.

"When Arsenal did it they had a lot of luck and didn't have that quality of four or five teams who are capable of beating them, so I don't think City will do it."

City's 13 victories in succession in a single campaign equals a Premier League record set by Arsenal in 2001-02 and Chelsea last season.
