Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stated that he is more focused on the club winning Premier League points than achieving records.
The Citizens, who won their final six games of last season, have equalled their best winning run since being crowned champions in 2013-14 by emerging victorious in both of their opening league fixtures this season.
City have not won nine consecutive league games since 1912, but Pellegrini is focused solely on picking up points in the current campaign.
"It matters to have three points in the table and it is very important to continue in the same way we played in the first two games, because we must be a consistent team during the whole season," the 61-year-old told reporters at a press conference.
"But if that is a new record, that is a thing for me that is not important."
Pellegrini's side face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
