Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits that his team put in a pleasing display during their 5-1 thrashing of AC Milan.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that his team looked impressive during their 5-1 thrashing of AC Milan.

The Premier League champions continued their pre-season campaign on Monday with a comfortable win over the Italians in Pittsburgh.

While Pellegrini was pleased by the scoreline at the Heinz Field, the Chilean was also keen to praise the overall performance of his players.

"I think it was a very good game for our team, it is always important to win and also important to score five goals," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"But not only that, I thought that we played with good pace and that is very important in the pre-season and we must continuing trying to improve our team and playing this game."

City return to action on Wednesday when they meet Liverpool in New York City.
