Jesus Navas: 'Newcastle United will pose tough challenge'

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas believes that his side cannot afford to be below their best in their Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas has admitted that his side will have to be at their best when they face Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens have lost their last two Premier League matches in defeats to West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, surrendering top spot in the table to bitter rivals Manchester United.

Navas believes that his side need to remain composed against the Magpies because of the tough challenge Steve McClaren's men will pose.

He told the club's official website: "It's never a surprise when any team does well in this league. It's the best league in the world, the most competitive league in the world. Any team and every team will make life difficult for you.

"We know that they're going to come here and do the same. It will be tough and we will have to try very, very hard to get those three points again. I think there are always quite a few teams who will be involved there and thereabouts near the top of the league.

"There are lots of teams who can cause problems for us and that's why we need to remain focused on our own games and concentrated on getting as many sets of three points as we can in every game that we go into."

The 29-year-old has made nine appearances for Manuel Pellegrini this season.
