Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola dismisses reports that he is about to sign a new contract with the club.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has downplayed reports that he is on the verge of signing a new contract with the Premier League club.

Earlier this week, it was rumoured that the Spaniard's representative Josep Maria Orobitg was travelling to the Etihad to negotiate a new deal for his client, but Guardiola has dismissed such speculation.

"Sometimes journalists get bad information. My agent has not been in town," Guardiola told Sky Sports News.

Guardiola's second season in England has proved a resounding success, with City winning the EFL Cup and being on the verge of clinching the league title as well as progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The former Barcelona coach's current contract expires at the end of next season.
