Watch: Erling Haaland misses sitter in Manchester derby

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland missed a glorious chance to equalise for his side on the stroke of half time in the Manchester derby against Manchester United this afternoon.

The normally-prolific striker somehow put the ball over the crossbar from just yards out and with the goal gaping in front of him.

Phil Foden's header across the face of goal had taken Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana and the rest of his defence out of the picture, leaving Haaland seemingly with a tap-in to level things up.

However, the Norwegian, who had scored 79 goals in 83 games for Man City prior to today's derby and netted five times in his most recent outing against Luton Town, incredibly lifted his volley over the bar when it looked easier to score.

Haaland was in visible disbelief that he had failed to add to his league-leading tally of 17 goals this season, while a number of his teammates and manager Pep Guardiola threw up their arms in despair.

The miss came at the end of a frustrating first half for Man City at the Etihad Stadium which saw them dominate possession and territory, but fail to break down their opponents.

Man United went into the break with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Marcus Rashford's stunning early opener.
