Man City injury, suspension news and return dates for Man United clash: Akanji, Foden, Kovacic, Stones latest

Foden, Kovacic, Stones, Akanji latest: Man City injury list for Man United clash

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing midweek defeat when they lock horns with rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium for the 195th Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens head into this Premier League showdown having won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions, losing seven of those including a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Juventus on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's men now shift their focus back to domestic duties and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Liverpool having played a game more than the Merseysiders.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Ruben Amorim's side.

Rodri

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Man City are set to be without influential midfielder Rodri for the rest of the season after he suffered knee ligament damage in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September.

However, the Spaniard has since offered a positive update on his recovery and has set a new target for when he wishes to return.

Oscar Bobb

Status: Out Type of injury: Leg fracture Possible return date: Unknown

Oscar Bobb sustained a fracture to a bone in his leg during a training session in August and Guardiola has revealed that the attacker is targeting a return between January and February of next year.

John Stones

Status: Out Type of injury: Foot Possible return date: Unknown

John Stones has missed Man City's last five games since coming off at half time in last month's 4-0 defeat to Spurs with a foot injury, and there is currently no timeframe on the defender's return.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Nathan Ake sustained a hamstring injury in the closing stages of Man City's win over Nottingham Forest on December 4, and Guardiola has since revealed that the injury-prone defender is facing another spell on the sidelines.

Manuel Akanji

Status: Out Type of injury: Pelvis/Adductor Possible return date: December 21 (vs. Aston Villa)

Guardiola has confirmed that Manuel Akanji has been dealing with a pelvis/adductor problem that has forced him to miss the last two matches, and Sunday's game will also come too soon for the defender.

Mateo Kovacic

Status: Minor doubt Type of issue: Fitness Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Man United)

Mateo Kovacic sustained an unspecified injury on international duty with Croatia last month, but he returned to the matchday squad against Juventus in midweek and should be fit to feature against Man United.

Phil Foden

Status: Minor doubt Type of issue: Fitness Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Man United)

Phil Foden missed two of Man City's matches due to bronchitis before watching on as an unused substitute in the midweek defeat to Juventus. The 24-year-old has returned to training and should be fit to feature on Sunday.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Rico Lewis

Return date: December 21 (vs. Aston Villa)

Rico Lewis will serve a one-match suspension on Sunday after he was sent off for two bookable offences in Man City's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend.
