Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newport County

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Newport

Manchester City will continue their bid for the quadruple when they face Newport County in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola's side had been seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, but City now find themselves at the top of the standings on goal difference.

The North-West giants produced one of their best performances of the season on Sunday as they thrashed Chelsea by a 6-0 scoreline at the Etihad Stadium.

City have reached the last 16 of the FA Cup by recording convincing victories over Rotherham United and Burnley.

Here, Sports Mole looks at City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with the League Two side.

MAN CITY'S INJURY LIST

Vincent Kompany

Status: Out Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: Unknown

Vincent Kompany played a starring role as City defeated Liverpool at the start of 2019, but the club captain has not been seen since. Guardiola is yet to provide a return date for the Belgian.

Claudio Bravo

Status: Out Type of injury: Achilles Possible return date: Unknown

Claudio Bravo has been missing since sustaining a serious Achilles injury in August. The goalkeeper is not close to returning to the substitutes' bench as deputy to Ederson.

Benjamin Mendy

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: February 16

Benjamin Mendy has struggled with a knee problem for the past 18 months and although the left-back made a return against Burton Albion in January, he has not made another appearance. There remains an outside chance that he could feature in the squad for this weekend's game in South Wales.
