Khaldoon al-Mubarak says that Manchester City will be aiming to win every competition next season.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak believes that the Sky Blues have a strong enough team to compete in next season's Champions League.

The Citizens have failed to get past the group stage in the last two campaigns, which is believed to have been a factor in the decision to sack Roberto Mancini as their manager.

With Manuel Pellegrini on the verge of taking charge of the club and new arrivals on the cards, Al-Mubarak has said that City will be aiming to win every competition next season.

"The target now is to win every competition that we play in," Sky Sports News quotes Al-Mubarak as saying. "It is a high ambition, but we have the organisation and the squad to get us there.

"We have won the Premier League before, we know what it takes to win it and we will win it again. We have won the FA Cup before and we can do that again.

"In Europe, we have not been as successful in the Champions League and there is no doubt we have a lot of improvement to make there, but with the squad, the organisation, the manager coming in and the new players we will sign, we will have a strong team to compete in the Champions League."

City ended the season without a trophy, finishing second in the Premier League and losing to Wigan Athletic in the final of the FA Cup.
