Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants to bring one or two "marquee" players to Anfield this summer.
The Merseyside outfit spent more than £100m on nine new faces last year following their second-place finish in the Premier League.
However, this season they have struggled to match their previous form and are likely to miss out on securing Champions League football as they reside seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with four games left to play.
After losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona last summer the team have struggled for goals, and Rodgers has insisted that the club's American owners are prepared to hand over funds for a big-name stars.
"We have to look to improve the squad again which every big club will do," Rodgers told reporters. "For fans and players it's great to get those marquee players.
"They're maybe the one or two we need and the owners will support that. If they're available and affordable within the model then we will look to get them."
On Tuesday night, the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Hull City at the KC Stadium.
