Pepe Reina says that he feels "disappointed" by Liverpool's decision to loan him out to Napoli without informing him first.

Goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted that he feels "disappointed" by Liverpool's decision to loan him out to Napoli without informing him first.

The 30-year-old agreed a move to Italy last week on a season-long loan deal following the arrival of Simon Mignolet at Anfield.

In an open letter to Liverpool fans, Reina wrote: "For the past eight years, that is all I have known. The club, the staff, the city, the people and the supporters have played a massive part in my life.

"Liverpool is special in a way that only those who are lucky enough to experience the club close up can understand. If I have one regret, it is the way that I am leaving.

"It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first, I thought that I deserved better than that even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football."

Meanwhile, doubts still surround striker Luis Suarez, who has been the subject of a rejected £40,000,001m bid from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
