Newcastle United reportedly remain interested in securing a deal for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
Earlier this year, manager Steve Bruce suggested that the Magpies had tried, and failed, to sign the Frenchman during the January transfer window.
However, despite the 21-year-old rebuffing their advances, the Daily Mail claims that Newcastle could make another offer for the player later in 2020.
Any move may be aided if a takeover is completed before the end of the campaign, a development which would likely lead to the North-East outfit having a significantly higher budget.
Nevertheless, with Soumare continuing to impress for Lille before the coronavirus pandemic, Newcastle would inevitably face stiff competition for the player's signature.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are said to be among the teams monitoring the situation.
