Liverpool are allegedly prepared to sacrifice one of their young prospects in order to get a deal over the line for a Bournemouth star.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to part ways with one of their prospects to bolster their chances of signing Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.

Sitting 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, Arne Slot can be delighted with how Liverpool's top-flight season has panned out.

However, the Merseyside giants have ran out of steam in recent games, being eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage and losing the EFL Cup final prior to the international break.

With three star men currently out of contract and other squad members potentially departing Anfield, Slot will need to suitably strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Semenyo remains very much towards the top of Liverpool's shortlist ahead of the reopening of the market, and they have a method of how they believe they could strike a deal with Bournemouth.

Liverpool open to Doak exit?

The report suggests that there is the possibility of Ben Doak being included in a player-plus-cash deal at the end of the season.

Doak has benefitted from a season on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough during 2024-25, contributing three goals and seven assists from 24 appearances in the league.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old has made the breakthrough with Scotland, featuring in all six of their UEFA Nations League fixtures between September and November before missing out on the double-header with Greece in recent days.

While Liverpool are yet to make a decision on whether to retain Doak's services in the long term, it is claimed that using him to lower the cost of Semenyo is a possibility.

That said, Bournemouth do not have to feel forced into a sale courtesy of Semenyo having over four years remaining on his contract.

Would Semenyo prove value for money?

Previous reports have indicated that Bournemouth could demand between £40m and £50m for a player in Semenyo who has established himself into a first-choice pick.

A total of 18 goals and seven assists have come from his 79 appearances for the Cherries, with seven strikes and four assists being recorded from 28 Premier League outings during 2024-25.

Semenyo has been deployed on both flanks this campaign and that is something that may prove attractive to Slot when Liverpool are competing in four competitions.

One current downside is Semenyo failing to score in six Premier League fixtures, providing just one assist during that time, and it remains to be seen whether he can add consistency to his undoubted talent now that he has reached the age of 25.
