Liverpool 'interested in signing Charlton Athletic teenager Joe Gomez'

Liverpool are reportedly considering approaching Charlton Athletic regarding the possible capture of teenager Joe Gomez.

The 18-year-old is believed to have attracted the Reds' interest as they prepare to sell defender Sebastian Coates.

It has been reported that the Uruguayan will complete a permanent £4m switch to Sunderland after spending the season on loan at the Stadium of Light.

According to PA Sport, Liverpool are quietly confident that they can secure Gomez's signature with a fee of around £3.5m.

A formal offer is yet to be tabled for the teen, who has been capped at England Under-19 level.
