RB Leipzig have reportedly contacted Liverpool over a deal for attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott.
The 22-year-old has registered 15 goals and 20 assists in 147 competitive appearances during his time in the Liverpool first team.
However, he struggled for regular minutes in Arne Slot's first season in charge, settling for just two starts in 18 Premier League appearances.
Elliott went on to showcase his talent at the Under-21 European Championship, scoring five goals in six matches to help England retain their crown.
Those impressive performances for Lee Carsley's side have only added to the speculation that he could leave Liverpool in search of regular game time.
RB Leipzig contact Liverpool over Elliott transfer
Last month, Elliott conceded that he may have to find a new club to realise his "big ambitions" despite loving "everything" about Liverpool.
According to The Athletic, Leipzig are exploring the possibility of bringing Elliott to the Bundesliga in the final month of the transfer window.
The report claims that the German club have made contact with Liverpool over a potential move, although negotiations are not yet at an advanced stage.
Liverpool are understood to have two valuations for Elliott, depending on whether the final deal includes a buy-back clause.
The Reds will demand in excess of £40m if the transfer includes a buy-back option, while they will ask for more than £50m without the clause.
Would Leipzig be a good move for Elliott?
Elliott will miss out on the chance to play European football if he decides to join Leipzig this summer.
The Red Bulls missed out on all three UEFA competitions after finishing in seventh place in the Bundesliga table last season.
While that may be a drawback for Elliott, he would get the chance to play regular football in Ole Werner's side.
Leipzig are believed to view the Liverpool man as a potential replacement for Xavi Simons, who is likely to depart amid interest from Chelsea.
The chance to become a key part of a team would allow Elliott to stake his claim to be in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
