Liverpool agree Can deal

Liverpool have announced that the club has agreed in principle to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Emre Can.

The Germany Under-21 international has been linked with the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks, but rumours had emerged claiming that talks between the two parties had stalled.

However, following reports that Liverpool decided to meet the 20-year-old's release clause in the region of £10m, the Premier League outfit have confirmed that a deal has been agreed, subject to the completion of documentation.

Frankfurt-born Can made 29 Bundesliga appearances and scored three goals for Leverkusen last season after joining the club from German champions Bayern Munich.

Can's arrival is Liverpool's second signing of the summer so far, following the acquisition of Southampton striker Rickie Lambert.
