Juventus chief: 'We may miss out on Liverpool midfielder Emre Can'

Juventus fear that Emre Can could reject their interest and instead commit his future to Liverpool, the Italian club's general director Giuseppe Marotta reveals.

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that his side are far from certain to land Liverpool midfielder Emre Can at the end of the season.

The Italian giants are considered the favourites to sign Can in the summer once his contract, which he has so far decided against extending, officially runs out.

Marotta insisted last week that Juve will do all that they possibly can to persuade the Germany international to choose the Allianz Stadium as his next destination, but there have been suggestions from the player's agent that he may yet agree fresh terms at Anfield.

With former club Bayern Munich also rumoured to be sniffing about, Marotta is not taking anything for granted at this stage.

"He could renew [his contract] and, moreover, there are other teams interested in him," he told Italian broadcaster Premium Sport. "We want to try and bring him to Turin.

"I am stating this with full awareness that he might not arrive, but we need to have important objectives."

Can has two goals and three assists in 36 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
