Defender Joe Gomez keen to remain at Liverpool?

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is reportedly keen to remain at Anfield this season, rather than going out on loan to another Premier League club.

Defender Joe Gomez has reportedly indicated that he would prefer to remain at Liverpool this season.

After being restricted to just three first-team outings since recovering from a knee injury, it had been suggested that the England Under-21 international would be allowed to leave Anfield for the upcoming campaign.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old would prefer to try to force his way into Jurgen Klopp's thinking for the new season.

Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with a move for the former Charlton Athletic trainee, and he would likely receive regular action at the Amex Stadium after their promotion to the top flight.

Establishing himself at Liverpool remains a priority, however, and it appears that Gomez - who can play in a number of positions - is hoping to be used more frequently with Liverpool having returned to Europe.

Gomez still has five years remaining on his existing deal, meaning that he is likely to be given time to make the grade at the Merseyside giants.
