Daniel Sturridge 'pushing for Inter move'

Daniel Sturridge 'pushing for Inter move'

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is reportedly attempting to push through a loan move to Serie A side Inter Milan this month.

The 28-year-old is believed to have been made available for transfer by the Reds after a first half of the season in which he made just five starts in the Premier League.

Southampton, Stoke City and his former side Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the England international, but according to the Daily Mail, the player has "offered his services to the Italian giants", who are currently third in the Serie A standings.

The newspaper claims that Sturridge is desperate to prove his form and fitness to England manager Gareth Southgate and is fearful that he will miss out on a place in the World Cup squad if he fails to secure regular top-level football in the second half of the campaign.

Inter manager Luciano Spalletti is thought to be in the hunt for a backup to Mauro Icardi and is impressed by Sturridge's ability to play up front and on both flanks.

Sturridge has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Anfield.
