West Ham United striker Andy Carroll believes that the signing of Stewart Downing will turn out to be an inspired piece of business by the club.
Downing was officially announced as a Hammers player on Tuesday, after signing from Liverpool on a four-year deal, for a fee believed to be around £6m.
Carroll, who played with Downing during their time at Anfield, took to Twitter to state his happiness with the arrival of his former teammate.
"Great signing for us today! #cantwaittobeback #bargain" tweeted Carroll, who also joined the London side from the Reds this summer.
Downing made 91 appearances for Liverpool and scored seven goals following his £20m transfer from Aston Villa in 2011.
