Atletico Madrid 'keen to sign Roberto Firmino this summer'

Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino emerges as a summer transfer target for Atletico Madrid, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino during this summer's transfer window.

The 30-year-old has only scored four Premier League goals for the Reds during the 2021-22 campaign, with his appearances limited due to hamstring and muscular problems.

Firmino has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield, and Luis Diaz's arrival in January has led to suggestions that the Brazil international could be made surplus to requirements this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be determined to add another forward this summer, with Lille's Jonathan David said to be a target for the Merseyside giants.

According to Fichajes, Atletico are showing an interest in Firmino, with the Spanish champions preparing for Luis Suarez to leave the club in the upcoming market.

The report claims that the South American would be open to joining Diego Simeone's side, as he wants to secure regular action ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Firmino has scored 95 goals and registered 73 assists in 316 appearances for Liverpool since joining the Premier League giants from Hoffenheim in July 2015.
