Liverpool crowned champions: Who will get a winner's medal? Who could miss out?

Liverpool have won the 2019-20 Premier League title following Manchester City's defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Reds' 4-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace on Wednesday left Man City knowing that only a victory in West London would prolong their reign as champions until Liverpool visit the Etihad Stadium on July 2.

However, Chelsea's 2-1 victory leaves Man City 23 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's side with only 21 points left to fight for, giving Liverpool an unassailable lead.

The result caps off a campaign of unprecedented dominance for the Merseysiders as they end a long, 30-year wait to be crowned champions of England for a 19th time, and a first since 1990.

Here, Sports Mole looks at which players have earned a Premier League winners' medal, and who still has work to do.

All of the usual suspects and big names have done more than enough to earn a medal for their performances this season, with only five appearances required. The list of Liverpool's star names is extensive, and from front to back the likes of Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all played major roles in the title triumph. Many beyond that have played their part too; back-up goalkeeper Adrian has featured 11 times in the league this season, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have provided other options to partner Van Dijk, while Divock Origi, whose place in Liverpool folklore is already secure, has made 23 league appearances. In midfield the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner have been in and out of the team but contributed at important moments.

Milner, incidentally, is the only member of the Liverpool squad to have already won the title and he will be picking up his third winner's medal this season. Xherdan Shaqiri will also get a medal despite an injury-plagued campaign, and Takumi Minamino's substitute appearance against Crystal Palace took him over the five-game threshold too. It is mainly youngsters who are in danger of missing out, although there is still time left for Klopp to give them the game time they need to also put themselves on the honours board. Neco Williams made his debut against Crystal Palace and needs four more appearances, while Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott need to feature on three more occasions. Should Elliott do that then he would become the youngest player to ever earn a Premier League winners' medal, beating the record set by Phil Foden last season (17 years and 350 days).
