How Liverpool could line up against Brighton

Liverpool will be aiming to return to winning ways they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds head into the weekend nine points behind league leaders Arsenal having only won two of their first six league matches, although they have not played in England's top flight since drawing 0-0 away to Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park four weeks ago.

They should welcome captain Jordan Henderson back to their squad after the midfielder made a late cameo for England against Germany on Monday, and the 31-year-old may displace Harvey Elliott on the right side of Liverpool's midfield trio.

In defence, Andrew Robertson's knee injury is likely to see Kostas Tsimikas continue to look to cement his place at left-back, while Ibrahima Konate has only just returned to training following a knee injury and may be eased into things, with Joel Matip expected to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was left out of the Three Lions squad against Germany on Monday and looks increasingly unlikely to be a part of Gareth Southgate's plans for the World Cup, but Jurgen Klopp has very few alternatives at right-back and is likely to persist with the 23-year-old despite his dip in form this season.

Diogo Jota looked sharp against Ajax on his first start since returning from a hamstring injury, creating Mohamed Salah's opener, and he could be favoured in a central role ahead of Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino, who will both hope to make an impact from the bench.

Curtis Jones is yet to feature in a competitive match for the Reds this season due to a calf issue, but he could return to the matchday squad and bolster Klopp's midfield options in the process.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Diaz
