Sturridge out for six to eight weeks

Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with an ankle injury.

The England forward, who left training on crutches on Friday, could miss 12 Premier League fixtures.

"Daniel Sturridge is out for six to eight weeks, which is obviously a big blow," Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told reporters.

The 24-year-old will definitely be unavailable for the Reds' trips to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea later this month.

Sturridge has scored nine goals in 12 league appearances this season.
