Martin Skrtel impressed with Liverpool signings

Defender Martin Skrtel says that he has been impressed with Liverpool's summer signings so far.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has said that he has been impressed with the club's signings this summer.

The Reds landed Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino for around £29m last month, while James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne and Danny Ings have also been signed alongside goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and young defender Joe Gomez.

Skrtel told the club's official website: "We have signed quality players. Our team will be stronger than it was last season and we just have to show that on the pitch.

"We have got four weeks until the Premier League starts and we are working very hard every day to get fitness.

"Next we'll go on tour and we have some friendly games coming. We'll just try to be ready for the first game, which is Stoke away, and I believe we will be."

Skrtel signed a new contract with the club on Friday.
