Mamadou Sakho delighted to be back

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho reveals that he is thrilled to be fighting fit and helping the Reds' title challenge again.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he is thrilled to be fighting fit and helping the Reds' title challenge once again.

The 24-year-old returned to first-team duties for the 2-1 win away to West Ham United on Sunday, having being absent since December 29 through injury.

He told the club's official website: "I was very happy at West Ham as I'd worked very hard to get back to full fitness. So that's been achieved now.

"I was simply just making myself available for the team, because the most important thing here is the group, so you need to be ready to give your absolute best when you are called upon."

It remains to be seen if Sakho will feature in the club's clash with title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, with fellow defender Daniel Agger expected to be fit for the encounter.

Kickoff for tomorrow is scheduled for 1.37pm.
