Brendan Rodgers: 'Adam Lallana will make his Liverpool debut soon'

Brendan Rodgers reveals that Adam Lallana is close to making his Liverpool debut after looking "very good" in training.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Adam Lallana will be given some game time within the "next couple of weeks".

The England international is yet to make his competitive debut for the Reds after joining the club in the summer from Southampton for a reported £25m fee.

Lallana's Liverpool career was hampered by a knee injury in pre-season, but Rodgers has claimed that the midfielder has been impressive in training.

The Northern Irishman told the club's official website: "He's looked very good. He is obviously short of match fitness, but the only way he is going to get that is by playing.

"He featured in the game we had here at Melwood against Wolves behind closed doors, scored the winning goal and did very well. In training he's worked very, very hard.

"It's just about him getting the minutes and the game time, and we'll look forward to introducing him back to that over the next couple of weeks."

Lallana could make his Anfield bow tomorrow in Liverpool's match against Aston Villa.
