Simon Mignolet expects Liverpool response

Simon Mignolet believes that Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie against Manchester United is the perfect fixture for Liverpool to bounce back from their defeat to Southampton.

Simon Mignolet has claimed that Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie against Manchester United is the perfect fixture for Liverpool to get over their defeat to Southampton.

The Reds suffered their first loss of the Premier League season on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 at Anfield thanks to Dejan Lovren's second-half goal.

"We've got another game on Wednesday when we can put things right straight away; I think it's a perfect scenario to get back to it," Mignolet told the club's official website. "We have a decent game to look forward to and everybody can put things right.

"Sometimes you have a disappointing result, but then you have to make sure the result and performance afterwards is back on top."

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
