Liverpool fine striker Luis Suarez for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during yesterday's draw at Anfield.

Liverpool have slapped a fine on striker Luis Suarez for controversially biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield yesterday.

The Uruguay international made headlines for biting the arm of Ivanovic before netting a stoppage-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw with the Blues in the Premier League.

Suarez announced the news via his Twitter account by saying: "For my unacceptable behaviour yesterday the club has fined me today, I have asked the club to donate the money to the Hillsborough Family Support Group for the inconvenience I have created to the Liverpool fans and to Ivanovic."

The 26-year-old, who apologised after the incident, could be hit with a lengthy ban by the Football Association following referee Kevin Friend's failure to spot the bite at the time.
