Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert: 'AC Milan game will bring back happy memories'

Lambert has happy AC Milan memories

New Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert has spoken of how tonight's game against AC Milan will bring back some happy memories for him.

The lifelong Reds fan told the Liverpool Echo that the 2005 Champions League final, in which the Anfield club overcame a 3-0 deficit against the Italian giants to be crowned European champions, will live long in the memory.

"It was one of the best nights of my life," Lambert, 32, said. "Every Liverpool fan would say the same. That one really stands out.

"I was on holiday with my mates. At half-time I was trying to keep one of my friends from going home. He was glad he stayed in the end."

Lambert joined Liverpool from Southampton for a fee of £4 million in June.
