Klopp 'will quit before wasting time'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he will quit football management before any of his players resort to time-wasting in a game.

Klopp has rejected the idea of "cynical" football, and has said that he always expects the best from his players, regardless of the situation on the pitch.

The comments come after the Reds threw away a three-goal lead in Seville, before Willian equalised for Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.

"We try to close games down, but we don't do it in a cynical way," Klopp told Sky Sports News.

"We don't do it like 'oh, sit down again' - you have seven minutes overtime then. The day when somebody thinks like this [in my team], with not being a proper sportsman and being fair, then I stop.

"If it's not ok anymore that we try our best, then it is something wrong. Yes, you have to be smart, yes you have to be clever in different situations. [But I] didn't see a lot where we had to stay down. If you don't hear a whistle you have to stay up."

Liverpool face Stoke City on Wednesday after drawing against Antonio Conte's men last time out.
