Jurgen Klopp: 'Give Liverpool time to earn success'

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp asks for time to try to help the club to the Premier League title.

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has predicted that the club will earn success on the pitch if he is given time at Anfield.

After Brendan Rodgers was sacked as the club's manager following an inconsistent start to the season, Klopp was confirmed as Liverpool's new boss on Thursday night on a three-year deal with the team currently six points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Klopp has not set a target for the current campaign, but the former Borussia Dortmund chief believes that if he is still on Merseyside in four years' time, Liverpool would have claimed their first league title since 1990.

The 48-year-old told reporters: "I am a normal football manager and I want to work with the team and be on the pitch. When I left Dortmund, I felt it was not so important what people think when you come in but what they feel when you leave.

"I ask, please give us time. If you are patient and are prepared to work, in a special Liverpool way we can be successful. If I am sitting here in four years, we will win one title in this time."

Klopp's first game at Liverpool will come at White Hart Lane on October 17 when the Reds face Tottenham Hotspur.
