Rob Jones: 'Aly Cissokho will give Jose Enrique competition'

Liverpool youth team coach Rob Jones believes that Aly Cissohko will provide first-choice left-back Jose Enrique with some much needed competition.

Liverpool youth team coach Rob Jones has said that Aly Cissokho can provide Jose Enrique with some fierce competition for the left-back berth at Anfield.

Cissokho arrived on loan from Valencia during the summer, but was injured during the League Cup win over Notts County in August.

However, the Frenchman returned to action in an Under-21 game recently, and Jones believes that he can put pressure on first-choice left-back Enrique.

"He's a good prospect and it will be good for Enrique as well with competition on the left-hand side," Jones told The Sport Review.

"Sometimes it can be hard for a first-teamer coming down to the reserves or Under-21s, but he was magnificent last night.

"He controlled it on the left-hand side, got forward and defended well. It was the first time that I'd really seen him play."

The Reds' Under-21 side overcame Tottenham Hotspur's 5-0 in Cissokho's return.
