Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes that his side deserved more than a point against Sunderland today, but was pleased with their fighting spirit.

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has praised his side's fighting spirit after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Sunderland this afternoon.

Luis Suarez's second-half goal cancelled out Steven Fletcher's strike to give Liverpool a point.

The Reds could have had more as they hit the woodwork twice, and Johnson believes that his side's refusal to stop pushing for a winner until the final whistle deserved more.

"We kept pushing for that second goal," he told ESPN.

"Their goal was a disappointing goal to concede but the lads dug in and fought hard. We tried hard, we came out in the second half and got better. We never stopped working hard.

"We have played well in the majority of our games this season."

Liverpool, who are still looking for their first win of the season, face Manchester United at Anfield in their next match.
